Rest assured I do not intend to turn this into a politics-only blog. However, whenever I find information that might be of value in helping my viewers come to their own decisions, or help you share information which isn't being covered by the corporate-driven press with your friends, I intend to post it here. There's so much at stake in this election, I have a responsibility as a citizen to take part in it and do something. The majority of Americans want tangible change and a departure from the Bush legacy. Both sides say they'll offer it. Let's put a magnifying glass up to their proclamations. Personally, I think Obama is the only candidate who can pull this off, but if any of my readers find compelling and trustworthy evidence to the contrary, please chime in. For democracy to WORK, we need to voice our respectful opinions to help everyone use their god-given brains to make a wise decision. This requires an open mind, a letting go of selfish agendas, and an intention to find some semblance of truth.
So.. the screen grab up there? It's from BBC News. Click here to read the entire article. McCain seems to think he's the only one who can work effectively in foreign affairs, but this poll shows the world prefers Obama by an overwhelming margin. More than ever, we need leaders who are effective communicators and if we don't learn to foster productive communication and cooperation in the world, I think we're doomed. War should be the last-ditch option when every attempt at diplomacy has failed. As for McCain's stance that we should "WIN" the war in Iraq, my answer to him is in the aftermath of any war, there are no winners. War plants seeds of hatred, and it is an outmoded idea in this 21st century when nuclear bombs could wipe us all off the planet.
I'll close with the words from a man who made his theory on war quite obvious 2000 years ago...
Blessed are the peacemakers,
for they shall be called children of God.
~ Matthew, Chapter 5

Not that we've been very concerned in the past few years about how the rest of the world perceives us, but the facts speak volumes, don't they?
