Here's a new Just the Facts video for some truth-seeing.
I just read former Secretary of Labor, Robert Reish's blog where he asserts America isn't in a financial crisis, it's a Crisis of Trust we're embroiled in. You know, it's so easy to point fingers and blame, but in a culture that cares more about lipstick wearing pigs than the ethics and merit of a candidate's policies – in a country whose general populace would sooner addict themselves to American Idol than read a book, take a hike, or pick up a newspaper – I can't help but come to the conclusion we're all paying a hefty price for checking out of what it means to be responsible Americans and global citizens.
Pick one of the above, because we're all to blame for the mess we're in.
((((( tender pause here ))))))
My friend Rob just called and before he left the conversation, which was filled with sad reflections on the state of the economy, lying politicians and unrealized dreams, I said, "Rob?"
What, Peeps?
"Why can't things just fall into place?"
They already ARE in place, Susan. It's just your perception that's out of place here.
{ lump snagging itself in my throat }
"You know what? I've had this splitting headache all day watching the world come apart at the seams, but it's a beautiful day. I'm going to go outside with my bagpipes and play some music for a bit."
((((( beautiful )))))
You know, the mystics would tell us the more groundless we are the better off we'll be. When things begin falling apart, illusions evaporate and the naked truth is what we're left with. Recent events didn't make the recession or unemployment magically go away, but it did reveal an enormous shadow we're dancing with. The mother of all bailouts may or may not "work", but one thing's for sure – the change we so desperately sought – it's here. We're in unprecedented territory and no one really knows where we go from here. No one. As the ground slips out from beneath our feet, don't be afraid. Don't panic as the sedated and seduced "American Idol" image of the United States falls in a jigsaw jumble at our feet. To rail against the reality of our situation only serves to distract us from why this is happening in the first place – at some point the truth must be seen. And you can't change what you don't see.
May these events push us toward greater awareness.
Everything is as it should be.
Please forward.

Amen Sister
This has been a scary week on all fronts. And that we as a nation are more riveted by who won AMERICA'S GOT TALENT or what Britney has done today than how far the stock market dropped, which financial institution went belly up or how many innocent people of have killed in a war not of our choosing ... it boggles my mind but then ... it always has.
And recently, I have been saying to myself, in the light of all the horrible environmental events going on ... corruption, war, on and on and on ... maybe we DO deserve what we get. If we will not stop and take a close look at what is important.
