You know what saddens me about this clip? The underlying concept that God must be powerless without us reciting a laundry list of Me-First "To Do" items to a God who is supposed to be all-powerful and omniscient. Whatever happened to the humble and loving request, Thy will be done? In my wildest dreams, I would never purport to know THE WILL of GOD, but I have an inkling there's a good chance he'd be more in favor of bringing windmills and solar energy to Alaska than drilling for gas.
I do think a dialogue needs to be entered into about Palin, and just because she's a woman and a Christian does not mean that looking closely at her and doing our own vetting is politically incorrect or sexist. We've seen a lot of hasty jumping to conclusions by everyday citizens, politicians, and journalists alike, and hasty decision-making is precisely what upsets me about McCain with the Palin decision. I think it's best not to jump to conclusions, choose our sources of information wisely, and listen carefully.
Speaking of listening... watch the clip below and really consider the fact she might be president someday AND thinks the Iraq war is "God's will". I beseech the Republicans to be open to the idea that God really is love, and if you REALLY can't 100% subscribe to that idea, then to stop calling yourself a Christian. Jesus may have turned over the money changer's tables in the temple, but the scriptures make no mention of him being physically violent. When Jesus spoke of bringing a sword, he was speaking symbolically of piercing our egos, not of physical attacks and global confrontation. If McCain keels over in 2-3 years and President Palin is in the pulpit, what will she say to Iran or Iraq? Will our feisty, gun-slinging Alaskan devoutly proclaim she's privy to God's will, and decide to escalate? This is very serious, and in many respects, Palin represents zero change from the present administration. George Bush has refused to listen to anyone who disagrees with him too, and look at where that got us.
I"m deeply concerned by Palin's mockery of Obama's community leadership. Our nation is made up of communities, and on a macro level, our country is one BIG community. Come on, bloggers, this is the internet – we're a part of a GLOBAL community! Washington is suffering from a chronic case of community amnesia – who then, I ask, is the best candidate to cure it? Will a biting and sarcastic lipstick-wearing pit bull bring "change" to America? Will the Republican elite embrace the concept of all beings being equal? What we need are leaders who can speak the truth forcefully, but with respect and dignity.
Feel free to express your opinion. With what I've seen to date on September 8, 2008, the Republican ticket has offered little to impress me.

I don't have enough adjectives to describe how perplexed I am about this choice of McCain's. She scares me, pure and simple. Every time I hear her speak, my mouth just gapes open and there are no words...

Well said, Susan. We really need to get away from snap decisions like this one of McCains and all the others of the past 8 years. I truly believe NOTHING WILL CHANGE unless we elect Obama as president and he will surely have his hands full if he is.

I don't think Obama has all the answers, though I certainly have considered voting for him because he at least has a solid grasp on the reality that many things need to change.
But I am even more frightened by people who think they do have all the answers and hide behind God as their rational for misguided agendas [seemingly, like Palin]. I'm a believer too but like you Susan I believe that God would not sanction many, if any of our actions in Iraq and around the world as we try to beat our agenda into corners of the world that we have no business being in.
