If you're going to watch just one news report about the financial crisis, watch this one. The newscast Democracy NOW, whose podcasts are available for free via stream or download, delivers news coverage free of the fluff and corporate bias. Nomi Prins, investment banker turned journalist, and Michael Hudson, professor from University of Missouri and former consultant to Congressman Kucinich, tell it like it is. I know recent events will tempt us all to check out from what's going on because it's just too terrible. I won't let you off the hook though. The greatest evil afflicting this nation is the collective choice of good people to think it's too big and uncomfortable and look the other way. Unfortunately, choosing not to care in order to avoid discomfort is a false refuge, and all false refuges lead us down the slippery slope into disastrous consequences. Every society ends up with the government it is willing to tolerate. It's up to us to understand what is going on and stop the insanity. Start talking about these issues... they are affecting all of us and will continue to impact the quality of our lives and our childrens' lives well into the future. WAKE UP!
That bailout – they’ve already spent $5 trillion in the last two weeks to double the size of the national debt by taking over Fannie Mae. How can they bail out the gamblers, how can they bail out Wall Street and not—and claim that the Social Security system doesn’t really exist? They’ve used the Social Security money basically for the bailout. There it goes. They’ve made a choice. The choice is to bail out Wall Street against the people.
– Michael Hudson

Wow, thank you for that. An artist that also takes note of the mess our country is in, and because of the power of this country, the mess the world is in. I am one of those who would like to turn off the news, hide my head under a pillow, but I'm compelled to listen, learn and vote, and work for my candidates. Thank you for your words, insight and beautiful photography.
