Laughter through Tears

Rain Bow ~ Canon 30d

The funny thing about making the mistake of not noticing all those raindrops on my lens? I think the result of my mistake – looking at this photograph – is just like laughing through tears... which, in my opinion, is one the best emotions in the repertoire of humanity. Now if only we could learn to whole-heartedly laugh at ourselves in the very moment we discover how silly we've been, smiling broadly while wiping the tears from the lens filter.

Beauty of whatever kind, in its supreme development, invariably excites the sensitive soul to tears.

~ Edgar Allan Poe

Wow! This really hit me. I think though, real true humor comes from a tender heartedness towards one's self and the world. For me, after I go through a time of darkness, I can be really funny, because I'm grounded in my humanness. I think we lauch because we get in touch with ourselves at a very human level. Thanks for this post. It really lifted me up because of some things that I have been going through. ~~ Bob

Bob ~ sorry to hear you've been in tough spot recently... sometimes the poison in life can end up being the best medicine when it comes to understanding ourselves. Beauty is lurking everywhere, just gotta wake up and see it ~ Susan

A double rainbow. How lovely. And I love the raindrops.
