This shot is one of many I took on a rare tour of the main bell tower of the Washington Cathedral. The staircase is just one of three I ascended; a multitude of tiny concentric heaven-bound circles. It was an amazing treat despite the freezing my ass off part, which took up most of the tour. A cold front blew in the night before resulting in a 25 degree drop in temperature. I was appropriately dressed for a sunny day on the banks of the Potomac River, not the wind-swept, bone-chilling, spiral staircase climbing adventure I signed up for. Of course, none of this seemed to matter and was quickly forgotten once I was up in the rope-pulling room surrounded by wall-mounted space heaters and gorgeous views of the entire city. More pics to come, I assure you.

The National Cathedral is my favorite building in DC.
So glad you enjoyed it.
You are such a great photographer...looking forward to more pics.

The wall looks like a face with the two open windows as eyes and the door way as a nose and mouth.
