The Way Through

January 31, 2008

Funny. I find out my ankle isn't broken, and now it hurts more than ever. It's as though someone pushed the slo-mo button on my remote control. Today I had a wave of sadness sweep over me. I think it's the time of year, being cooped up, feeling decrepit and watching too much political news coverage on CNN. I feel like something needs to be changed, but I'm not sure what I can adjust aside from my outlook. I've a new respect and admiration for people who suffer with chronic pain and manage to keep their spirits up. I wish I had a snow drift and an outdoor hot tub outside my window. :)

I do suffer with Chronic Pain and it is hard. Things will get better. Just Keep Calm and Carry On as the poster says.

i've heard so many people talk about how hard this time of the year seems to be on them and i'm one of them...bring on march...

Ah, kill the news! I have fasted from TV news for quite some time (if something major happens I might click on to see if everyone is okay)but I found that those talking heads poured all of their vile venom into my life. It was becoming a "spiritual discipline" of grossly negative proportions.

Now I get my news online and don't have their pollution in my day - it's amazing how I can live without them! :)

((((Susan)))) It is a hard time of year for sure. Keep some support on the ankle.

I'm jumping through that opening with you. Come on, let's hold hands. One... two... three... we're on the other side of January! Today is the first day of spring, Imbolc, in the Celtic calendar. Coming from Brittany (France) and having spent 16 years of my life in Ireland, I go by this. And indeed, the snowdrops and crocusses in the garden are evidence of Spring's arrival.

Sorry to hear your ankle is hurting. I badly injured mine last November (no broken bone, thankfully) and it surely can take a while to heal... but it does :-)

Blessings,

This is an astoundingly beautiful photograph. It looks magical, as if you could step through the opening from a world of wintry cold into a beautiful world of spring. It makes me long for Spring, that's for sure. Hope your ankle is better.

I could just see an elf come jumping through that photo.........or perhaps a polar bear come lumbering past.................... or at the very least a squirrel scamper through the opening with an acorn in his mouth. It truly is a magical shot and just ready for our imaginations to make it come to life.

this is such a beautiful photograph ... i am also having a hard time this month, the cold, the grey, the mountains of snow leave me feeling claustrophobic and immobile and i don't even have a broken ankle ... hope your ankle heals as quickly as possible ...
