Women need real moments of solitude and self-reflection to balance out how much of ourselves we give away.

I'm not sure there has ever been a more potent truth uttered. Beautiful.

This reminds me of a passage in 1st Corinthians 13, verse 11.
"When I was a child, I spake as a child,
I understood as a child, I thought as a child:
but when I became a man, I put away
childish things. For now we see through a
glass, darkly; but then face to face: now
I know in part; but then shall I know even
as also I am known."
And this passage suggests to me, that when we were children, we had greater clarity and understanding, because our approach to observations was pure and untainted. However, as we grow older, we take on other ideas and philosophies of our society and hense we "see through a glass darkly". Everything is obscured and we "know in part". And the trick is to return to the child mind that is unclouded and clear.

so true, so true...when my son was just a baby i bought him a sweet book called all alone (i think)...it was a gift from me to him because it described why i need time alone in such a simple, childlike way...i wanted him to better understand me and my drive for solitude.

A pure and simple truth!
Great self-portraits.
