After evacuating the bulging Fire Water crowd in Rhode Island, Rob and I sped toward the cape under the cloak of darkness. It's about a 75 minute drive to Falmouth, but it took a bit longer due to heavy fog, which was so thick the big bridge that signals one's entry into the Land of Cod was barely visible. As we drove across it, I said, "Hey, where's that huge bridge we always drive over."
"Uhh, we're on it right now," he answered.
"Nuh, uh... this is a tiny bridge, where's the BIG bridge?"
"It's so foggy, you can't tell how big it is, silly. This IS the bridge."
"AaaaAAAhhhh, god... it seems so dinky in the fog!"
We could only see maybe 30 feet ahead of the car. I guess it's sort of like being blind and reaching out to touch an elephant. You know it's bigger than a cat, but the magnitude of what you're touching is lost in the darkness.
Rob lives smack in the middle of Main Street, where there are a ton of restaurants. We were starving, so we didn't even bother to unload the car, opting to head straight to the new Italian restaurant that was crawling distance from the parking lot. If I were a restaurant reviewer my column would have said the food was amazing ~ that the family who relocated from Italy to start a new business are magicians in the kitchen ~ but the entire meal was ruined by the worst service I've received in years... and the bottled water that tasted like it was tapped from the pond across the road. We waited and waited and waited and waited and waited for the food to arrive, and when it finally did and we asked for bread, the bread never arrived. With all the waiting, there was plenty of time for me to take the picture above ~ ha.
To add insult to injury, the restaurant left their windows open after closing and the wait staff blasted music and yelled and screamed over it as they cleaned up... all of which I could hear from the bedroom window only a story away across the alleyway at midnight.
I give them 1/2 a star out of 4 stars despite the incredible cuisine. At least I got a nice FORK picture out of the deal, and the glass of Pinot I drank arrived swiftly.
I'm happy to report that things improved as the week progressed. :)

Cool photo... at least the forks were clean? :c) Sorry it was such a bad meal. Always leaves such a bad taste in my mouth if the service is really poor, regardeless of how good the food tastes.

What a shame. Hope Rob contacts the owner/manager. Poor service is such a pain when hungry and tired. No tips earned that night.
