Unclenched ~ Poetry Thursday

Gentle one,
Holy one,
into an unclenched moment,
a deep breath,
a letting go
of heavy experiences,
of shriveling anxieties,
of dead certainties,
that softened by the silence,
surrounded by the light,
and open to the mystery,
I may be found by wholeness,
upheld by the unfathomable,
entranced by the simple,
and filled with the joy
that is you.

~ Ted Loder

I love the mindfulness-like description of taking a deep breath and letting go of our heavy experiences and opening up to the mystery so that wholeness might find us in this poem. So often we contract and resist what we do not know ~ what is mysterious to us. I know I sometimes do. Having little or no experience with the mystery of life can be daunting ~ what will be required of me? Will I be condemned or judged?

Yet look at the first lines of the poem. It comes as a relief to me that gentleness precedes holiness, which means the process of opening up to our higher nature is a gentle one.

This might sound scary, but why not give something a try. Consider the possibility we aren't born incomplete ~ that we don't come into the world with a bunch of puzzle pieces missing. What if all of us are born with the goods already inside of us? How would our outlook on our spirituality and our relationship to self and others change if our self-appointed starting point wasn't "evil". What if we ceased our Worst-Case-Scenario thinking and cut the power supply sustaining the force field of judgment surrounding ourselves?

Wholeness has nothing to do with an external deity who demands worship and appeasement. It is the gentle bud of opening, leading to the holy destination inside of you where Spirit, however you define it, finds you.

Hmmm... What if we cut the power supply to the force field of judgment? And turned on a tractor beam of understanding and love and compassion? What if we could cut the power supply to our fear? That sounds scary, to me that is. What if we could open up and turn our understanding onto to our judgment and fear and look into it deeply? And as I go deeper and deeper, will I the pieces come together? Will I see my true essense?

Bob,
I'm with ya on the judgment thing ~ and think we're sayin' very similar things. Thinking we're basically "bad" causes us to judge ourselves harshly. It also causes us to fear, and all judgment arises out of fear of some sort. I love your comments.. they're so thoughtful... everyones!
