Ka*Boom ~ Canon 30d

Lucky me! Tim asked me to join him atop the Kennedy Center for the fireworks last night.
All I can say is WOW. Thank you!

Photographer's note: Susie Q has been suffering from food poisoning the last 3 days which induced a sort of technical brain fog. I didn't bring my tripod with me last night ~ (doh!). The upcoming images are, uh... hand held, and you know what? Instead of banging myself over the head with my 100mm lens, I'm actually rather satisfied with the painterly and casual feeling the handful of satisfactory images I walked away with have. Who needs a picture-postcard image of DC fireworks? They're everywhere. You can download them for a few bucks at a variety of stock houses, which begs the question, "What's the value in that?"

Look for the image no one else is going to get. Develop your own way of seeing, whether it's through the lens of the camera or through the lens that matters most ~ the lens of your life. The world can only benefit from your unique angle, your special awareness based upon your individual experience, and your own inspired vision.

I like the effect--very hometown.

Hope you're feeling better today.

Lucky you, indeed! And I think the drops of fireworks is arty indeed. Glad perfection but individuality is satisfying. And ...... hope you are feeling better!

Oh my, I do hope you are better. The picture is lovely and yours and that's what counts.

I love these moments you've captured. They feel more real that the postcard type. So much of photography is capturing things in a way that is "perfect", but life isn't perfect.
