Well, well, well. I loved ALL of your ideas about the rubber bands pointing in the same direction. Especially Penny's Metta-physical idea:
When you launch a rubber band you usually have a target (even if that target is somebody's head!) so couldn't it mean that those tight little loops of energy that you've been launching out in your Metta Blasts could be going in the right direction and hitting their targets, metaphysically speaking?
and Dana's:
Aren't they always? Those rubber bands know their shit. We would all do well to emulate them.
Let the emulation begin.
I venture a guess there isn't a single rubber band out there suffering from a self-image deficit. As a matter of fact, I sincerely doubt a single rubber band rolled over in bed and worried about where he was going, why he was going, or if he was going anywhere this morning. I've yet to meet a rubber band who questioned her true nature or purpose in life...which is to bind things together and thwack unknowing goofballs up side of the head in an effort to temporarily stun them out of their self-absorbed trances.
Why do we worry so damn much about perfectly hitting the mark when just taking a step in love's direction will suffice? Shouldn't we all, as Dana put it so aptly, emulate the confidence of the rubber band and boldy catapult ourselves out into the universe with the profound knowledge in our rubber hearts that there is no such thing as a wrong direction?
Just let go of the idea there's such a thing as wrong choices. No matter what choice you make or where the heck you're aiming, if you keep your heart open, you're going to learn what you're supposed to learn. So let go! Shoot for the moon! Allow the universe to create the right conditions at the right time for miracles to happen. Emulate the rubber bands ~ elasticize and stretch your concept of self! Aim for kindness. Set your sights on Love... you'll find it them in every and all directions!
Rubber bands are ready to spring out of your soul! Pull down the drawbridge and let 'em go!
{Thanks Penny and Dana! I'm sending metta bands of gratitude in your general direction.}

I'm going out to buy a big box of colorful rubber bands just to remind me of this blog. Beware!

Love the thoughts - but the picture is stunning, too. How is it that you see things the way you do? I'd never notice the beauty of a rubber band without you to point the way...
Spiritual beauty from the mundane. Now THAT is good stuff!
