The Shape of Things to Come

Tulip Globs ~ Canon 30d

Do you ever have that feeling of flying along at warp speed ~ skating on the brink of thinking you actually have a handle on the way things are going to be ~ and WONK! ~ a feeling suddenly explodes out of the blue leaving you scratching your head and wondering out loud, "Where the hell did THAT come from?"

I resembled that remark yesterday.

You know, it sucks that life is in a constant state of flux. But suck as it may, it's a Big Hairy Bad Idea to allow your feelings to get the best of you. If left unattended by regular meditation and self-checking they become monsters lurking just beneath the surface of our normally serene exteriors. Feelings can become your own worst enemy, especially if you hand all of your power over to them like a Hawaiian dancer doling out flower-filled necklaces to paradise-hungry tourists. You are not your feelings! You are so much more! Flip on your turn signal and take the first exit off the It's All About My Freakin' Feelings Autobahn Highway to Insanity!

Summer hit like a ball of fire this weekend with temps rising above 90 degrees. My Viking ancestry doesn't cooperate with such temperatures. According the the ever-popular, Best Viking Practices ~ A Field Guide for Scandinavians, Hot+Humid=GRUMPY, thank you.

I'd like to think I've acquired the ability to "tag" certain things in my life ~ developed some sort of a skill for getting a glimpse of things to come ~ but in actuality, I'm basing my intuition on shapes and globs of colors these days. Seeing things the way they truly are in the present moment is hard enough, let alone figuring out the future.

The shape of things to come? Bold and bright an beautiful! The details of things to come? Impossible to know. Impossible to grasp. Think about it ~ the future never comes. So take a seat in the front-row of your present moment, and enjoy the spectacular view. Drink in each intoxicating second.

Let it be. Let it come.

Drops of lovingkindness to George's parents in Tennesee today, and to Carrie. Keep up the good work. Metta Blasting works!

Way to go, Susan. Heat + humidity= Viking slump, lousy images in the mirror, bad hair days and bloat. BUT those meditations are the key. Live in the moment for the future will never arrive. Such words of wisdom.

Hi Susan:

That's interesting, because I had such a feeling of isolation this morning. But I know that I'm connected with all things and I'm made of the same stuff that everyone else. Hmmmm... You mean this feeling of isolation is not all that I am? *big smiles*

Thanks for that.

hmmm... maybe I have Scandanavian blood somewhere down the line because Hot + Humid definitely = Grumpy for me - that's not good since I live in Oklahoma.

Holding you in the light.. may a cool breeze blow thru your soul

to go beyond is as wrong as to fall short.
