Peaceful Dove

April 25, 2007

I have a special request ~ A dear friend's mother is gravely ill, and both of them could really benefit from being held in the light this week. Pray for peace and healing for Tim and his mom. You can leave a comment here (a poem, a quote.. just a few words, or a prayer) ~ or send me an email, and I will forward it to him.

Thank You ~ Susan

Peace is so simple, and yet so often feels out of my grasp. When the crows of chaos come and roost on my windowsill, there is little room for my beloved pair of wood doves to land and roost. So much of our chaos is self-created ~ I know mine can be.

Interestingly enough, as I write this, one of my sweet wood doves is back again this very moment, and she's actually pecking at my window. Like my cat, I think I've trained her to ask for food when the bowl is empty. But her gentle pecking ~ the tap, tap, tapping on the glass between us ~ is telling me I need to pay closer attention to my heart ... fill it with seeds of contentment, understanding, and lovingkindness... so she can build a nest and roost here for a very long while.

I'm not kidding.. I began writing this post, and she's on my windowsill staring through the window and talking to me ~ I feel a bit like St. Francis. I think I'll take off to the Franciscan Monastery this morning to take a much needed break and shoot some pictures.

Yes. I think that is true and often times circumstances and cosmic elements come together at just the right time just so that we know that the divine is always here watching and working. It’s just a matter of being open and mindful what is here right now. :-)

Please tell Tim that I hold him and his mother in my heart. And this evening I will bow down, invite the bell to sound and light a candle for them in mindful prayer.
