Art is contemplation. It is the pleasure of the mind which searches into nature and which there divines the spirit of which Nature herself is animated.
- Auguste Rodin
Getting an image like this takes a love and determination. Snowflakes were falling and over the camera and melting instantaneously. I was constantly wiping water off of the 30D with my scarf, which eventually became an exercise in futility once it was soaked. So many shots with huge splats on the lens or a snowflake in the wrong place at the wrong time. There were people huddled inside the cathedral after Sunday services looking through the doors with pained looks on their faces. "Oh, she must be COLD!" they seemed to say.
Ha.. I was having the time of my life. It hardly snows anymore, and I felt like a kid with an inner tube at the top of powdery snow-covered hill. Photographing the cathedral during a snow storm? Now THAT'S magical!
Have a great weekend everyone.

Oh Susan, that shot is magical... the snow falling against his face... and that expression. Pure magic girl, pure magic.

This is a wonderful picture. She looks dead, yet gesturing, like wiping away the snow. Cold as stone, yet some how life-like.

I love this shot, Susan. You are an amazing talent with an incredible *capture* ability, even when the object itself is not moving, while everything else around him apparently was :)

Incredible, Susan. The huge falling snowflakes, almost snowballs!, around the sculpture make the man look in motion. It feels cold just to look at it. Wow. What a shot.
