Pink Martini

Pink Martini Girl ~ Canon 30d

I like this portrait of me in spite of my mop-like hairdo. (The nightmare perm I got a year ago finally gave up the ghost on my trip to Kansas City last month. It was so bad, I showed up on my former beautician's doorstep the day after Christmas begging for mercy. She ended up chopping most of my hair off... I'm not so sure if that was a GOOD idea or not. Mom says it's cute, but Mom's biased, so the jury is still out.)

So, I'm groovin' with these images because:
1. The pink martini reminds me of one of my favorite bands.
2. I'm drinking it in Cafe Sebastian in the Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art in Kansas City... one of the coolest places to eat in the city.
3. I'm pictured in front of a portrait of Billie Holiday ~ one of my favorite singers. (Correction: I'm obstructing Billie Holiday.)
4. It was taken by my super-talented, smart friend and former Flash student, Barabara (pictured below). HI BARBARA!

Water Glass Girl ~ Canon 30d

Barbara has a much better hairdo than mine, although you can't see it due to the strategic placement of glassware. Our covert glassware portrait session happened spontaneously after a mere 3 sips from my pink martini glass. The words "Damn that's strong!" come to mind upon remembering it. I'm a bit of a lightweight... I just don't drink that much. Barabara's face continued to look a bit cubist even after she dropped the glass down from in front of her face ~ boy that rosey triangle packed a whollup. It was stronger than my Swedish Glogg and that's sayin' somethin'.

Martini Wall ~ Canon 30d

The Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art is a fabulous little museum, and I'd be lying if I said I didn't miss going to it, and Cafe Sebastian is over-the-top cool, with reproductions of famous paintings adorning every inch of wall space. Seriously, the place is creative-smart-whimsical fun... especially with a pink martini and in the company of a wonderful friend.

Barbara... let's make this a new tradition, okay??
