In late November I flew up to Pittsburgh to see my dear friend, Joy, who asked me to pitch a multimedia job to one of her clients. Not only did the business meeting go smashingly well, I also got to meet her cuddly ball of 5 month-old cuteness, Benjamin.
Now, y'all maybe should know something about me. I'm not very talented when it comes to babies. GASP! There's an explanation. You see, not only am I the youngest in the family, both of my parents were the youngest of their families, and I just wasn't exposed to them while I was growing up. I appeared at the very end of the line of cousins in both of my extended families, which made me the recipient of much cooing and cuddling and wishing I was older like everyone else. So... I'm not a baby person, unless I'm related to the baby in question. If you ever meet me and you happen to have a baby, please don't beg me to hold it... I might break it... or drop it... and most certainly, it will cry and spit up all over me if you manage to talk me into it.
Well, the landscape has shifted a bit since being introduced to lovey dovey Benjamin. He was the cutest, sweetest, bubbly cuddly wonderful kid I've ever met. Perhaps it's because I think of Joy as part of my family, I don't know... but we both seemed to fancy each other from the moment our eyes met, and I really enjoyed holding the tyke. Benjamin really is "all that"!
