You've made me a forest
with only one tree
laden with fragrances
musky and green
You've made me a forest
with outstretching branches
quivering leaves caught in
shimmering dances
You've made me a forest
with feathered hearts beating
song bird's throat calling
sap's upward releasing
You've made me a forest
with paths softly curving
down toward the river's
wet current of yearning
You've made me a forest
Where moths flutter in trances
beneath starlit skies
into dark midnight vastness
You've made me a forest
your breath fills my earth
inhaling your wind
exhaling sweet birth
You've made me a forest
where tumbling leaves die
the sweetest of deaths
as they fall from the sky
Come into my forest
come into the deep
We'll make this our forest
Come falling, come sweet

A lovely poem, the repetition of "you've made me a forest" is very effective

The lyricism here is just lovely: simple, understated. Yes.

Methinks this might be about sex.
Great images here. I especially like, Where moths flutter in trances.
So it is about sex, right? At least kinda?

Crafty Green Poet thinks this is a poem about trees, but her Alter Ego agrees with Dana and thinks it is really about something else....
I love the rhythm in this piece and the first stanza particularly. Not to mention the stunning photo....

Craft Green,
Actually, a few people have thought initially this poem is about god. It can be whatever you want it to be about, as I intended it to be interpreted whichever way the reader chooses. Connecting initimately with someone you love is a bit like finding god, isn't it?
thanks for the compliment!

That picture makes me feel so small - the way you feel as a child when you look up at a tall tree. I love that. The poem is just as lovely - I really like this line: "Where moths flutter in trances". Hypnotic.

This stanza is just beautiful -
You've made me a forest
your breath fills my earth
inhaling your wind
exhaling sweet birth
I just love that.
Dana - can I have a sip of whatever you're drinking?

I thought it could be about God, too, until the end. I liked the rhythm of it. The photo reminds me of being a child and looking way up into the trees!
