No End ~ Poetry Thursday

Butterfly Pants ~ Canon 30d

No End

Where do butterflies end and flowers begin
when soft alighted seam sets in?
Petals kissed by dusting wings
one to another ~ or just one thing?

Where do I end and you begin
when heart meets heart and skin meets skin?
Smiling souls no boundaries stake
the love we make is love we take

Where precisely, sea meets shore
would moons stand still and move no more?
There are no lines ~ no need for sides
where tarnished wings and blossoms die

There is no shore there is no sea
salt, sand mingled, you are we
Boundaries blurred upon the land
sea-filled footprints in the sand

Quivering hearts summon divine
fluttering wings soft whispering sigh
Closing round and opening in
there is no end ~ and no begin

~ SJP

The lyrical, pastoral imagery this poem evokes is beautiful. It reminds me of Browning, the way her poetry settles itself into our subconscious. You've so aptly captured the way love consumes, creating a union of two - "there is no end ~ and no begin" says it best.

Out beyond our ideas of

wrongoing and rightdoing

there lies a field.

I'll meet you there.

When the soul lies down in that grass,

the world is too full to talk about.

Ideas, language, even the phrase each other

doesn't make any sense.

Superhero Activist ~ I'm wondering if I deserve such high praise, but I will certainly take it and cherish your comment!

eB ~ that's my very favorite Rumi poem! To have my poem appear on the same page makes me smile.

Nice Photo! What beautiful imagery you evoke in
your poetry to compliment it.

"There is no shore there is no sea
salt, sand mingled, you are we
Boundaries blurred upon the land
sea-filled footprints in the sand"

Love the way the you becomes me and everything mingles in a sense to become one. Beautiful!

I am practically speechless. This is so beautiful; I could read this each and every day and not tire of it. Thank you so much!

Splendid...........poem is so subtle and lovely. Yes, like Browning. And the Rumi poem to compliment yours. The bright orange and brown butterfly sitting upon the pale pink rose which matches the insects pink spots is amazing. Such an eye for color; blending, contrasting and coordinating. What an extraordinary piece.

Your photos are always beautiful, and your words are beautiful, too. The rhyme is so well done. The poem so concise. Every word needed. Every line just perfect.

I agree...both the photograph and the poem are beautiful. It reminded me of Audrey Thomas's novel _Intertidal Lives_, which is all about exploring the in-betweenness of things. Thanks for sharing.
