Enchanted River

"So-this-is-a-River"
"THE River," corrected the Rat.
"And you really live by the river? What a jolly life!"
"By it and with it and on it and in it," said the Rat. "It's brother and sister to me, and aunts, and company, and food and drink, and (naturally) washing. It's my world, and I don't want any other. What it hasn't got is not worth having, and what it doesn't know is not worth knowing. Lord! the times we've had together..."

Joan and the Rivanna River. Taken from my kyak under the most brilliant of skies last weekend. Lord! the times we had together, paddling down what I will forever remember as the River of Enchantment.

Wow... what a viewpoint. Sounds like this trip was one of those that helps almost redefine direction in life. What a lovely journey that river must have been...

The Wind in the Willows is one of my all time favorite reads ... I'm so happy you connect that with this river ... It really was a wonderful time and hopefully there will be more!
