True LOVE!

Sam Asleep

I'm in luv. Hopelessly. Completely. Head over heels. The no-turning-back sort of euphoria one is lucky to experience even once in a lifetime.

Who is the target of my undying affection? A male with a schnozzzz that makes my heart skip a beat ~ with piercing, soulful eyes that seem to know exactly what I'm thinking. Admittedly, he can be a bit of a baby, but aren't all men? I begged him to come home with me, but being the mama's boy that he is, he had to decline my invitation. I may be ruined for life... will have to live out the rest of my days as a lonely spinster. I'm not good enough for Sam! Whoa is me! Life is simply no longer worth living!!!

{wrist to forehead ~ wistful sigh ~ flopping hopelessly down on the velvet sofa!}

Sam Awake

Yes, I really did fall in love with Rivanna River Day's dog this weekend. Joan had to put her foot down just as I was leaving. She said, "NO. NO. NO! you can't take my dog." I tried to arrange a covert rendevous pick-up at the top of the drive way, but alas... Sam didn't appear. Apparantly Joan got wind of our dreams of elopement and locked him in the living room as I drove off in the MINI.

{sob}

Seriously ~ how can anyone not fall in love with that face? Only a cartoon should be allowed to possess such a comical nose, and such beady but loving eyes which he uses to stare straight into your heart with. This dog is TOO MUCH. He repeatedly jumped up on my lap, and after a few seconds of polite scratching, he'd flip his head backward, scoot his butt forward, and somehow wiggled himself onto his back until at last I found this big baby cuddled up in my arms just like... well... a BABY! (An enormous, fuzzy baby.)

Joan guesses he's part Dacshund and part Terrier. I think he's part dog, part cartoon character, and part angel.

It was a FABULOUS weekend! I wish I had my CAMERA with me!! Ack! It was painful to be without my shutterbox... but Joan kindly let me use her Fuji point and shoot, which did a beautiful job. I'll be posting more images of our time on the Rivanna River in the next couple of days, but simply had to post Sam's shots first.

Here's to Charlottesville, new friends, mojitos, and living our days in time with the peaceful pace of the Rivanna River.

What a treasure he is! And he is a snuggler as well! I am afraid I would have dognapped him and joyfully paid the consequences. You sound as relaxed as Sam looks.
