Little Bird ~ Canon 30d

I look up to the little bird
That glides across the sky
He sings the clearest melody
It makes me want to cry
It makes me want to sit right down
and cry cry cry
I walk along the city streets
So dark with rage and fear
And I...
I wish that I could be that bird
And fly away from here
I wish I had the wings to fly away from here

~ Annie Lenox (from the song, little bird)

Sweet birds have been hanging out on my widows sills. I've been putting seed out every day since I've noticed a number of nesting spots around my building.

I identify with the song exerpt above ~ wanting to fly fly fly away from our crazy mixed up world, but we can't run away from reality, can we? Seeing our reality as it truly is. Seeing ourselves as we truly are. Clear seeing is the key to unlocking the birdcage. But... there is so much chatter taking our attention away from our hearts.

Reality. Tough sometimes. But we must feed the birds, smell the poppies, play in the snow, walk the beach, care for one another , and love oursleves into wholeness.

janet/mom ~ watching and feeding the birds are a great meditation, you've taught me that! Watching reminds us there is a little bird of bliss nesting in my heart!

Maybe the birdcage was never locked, or at least not locked from the outside.

Mark,

you always have such insightful comments. I totally agree. When we hold onto illusions and fantasies we effectively lock ourselves in. Interesting concept, as this eliminates the need to blame others for where we are in our lives. At any moment, we can choose to think differently. With our thoughts we make our world.

I adore birds, their optimistic, determined faces.

Your birds are beautiful. I especially love the sparrow. (You make is look very noble.)

Also love that particular Annie Lennox song.
