Hummingbird Meditation

Hummingbird Cross ~ Canon 30d

"I have no doubt that I stand here at the very center of creation. Every fir tree, each of its needles, the movement of wind, all that I perceive and even more that I don't, all resonate with a vital hum. It is the hum of the universe, what the Chinese call the ten thousand things, all of them speaking out, saying precisely nothing. Each is its own center, the exact place where the world begins. "The center is where you are standing," says Joseph Campbell, "and the other center is where I am standing."

Red Thirst ~ Canon 30d

Give us Direction; the best of goodwill; Put us in touch with fair winds. Sing to us softly, hum the evening's song. Tell us what the blacksmith has done for you.
~ Jethro Tull

Hummingbird ~ Canon 30d

I am a black woman
the music of my song
some sweet arpeggio of tears
is written in a minor key
and I
can be heard humming in the night
Can be heard
humming
in the night

~ Mari Evans

Ommmmm!

{ I shot these just before leaving my dad's lake house today. I spent most of the weekend telling myself it would be impossible to get a decent shot of these sweet creatures, so why even bother? I'm coming to realize a lot of the thoughts that flitter and bounce off the walls of my mind are just plain wrong much of the time. I think it might be best to just stop thinking, and practice being instead. }

Wonderful pics. I'm especially taken with the top picture. She is like a little child who has hopped into the air with joy. She is both serene and majestic. And yet...one knows tha she is really a bundle of energy. I like the little feet.

oh i love that jethro tull quote!

the pictures have a feel of other-world-ness. almost like you have captured what is not meant to be seen on this plane of reality. like hummingbirds are meant for another dimension. thanks for taking the time to shoot them, step over your self-talk about it and share them with us, they are so beautiful.

Just beautiful! Just keep being!!

Ah, yes. We certainly can think too much. Often we can be our own worse enemy with the inner thoughts that cripple our abilities. It is so easy to consider something too hard. I like to ask God to plug me into his power each morning and that makes me feel (often not always) that I can do anything if I just try. I would think humming away our fears takes lots less energy than worrying about our thoughts. Good thoughts. Strong thoughts. While we ommmmmmm away doing our thing. Amen.
