What's Inside?

How can we know ourselves? Never by reflection, but only through action. Begin at once to do your duty and immediately you will know what is inside you.

~ Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

As someone who is seemingly in a neverending cycle of inner reflection, this quote challenges me. I think Goethe is likening our inner selves to a muscle. Use it or loose it. Get yourself out there and moving ~ interact ~ and what's inside of you will come out. Inner beauty, if it's really there, will always present itself.

I REALLY like the quote, Susan. We with hermit tendencies, or more kindly put we with the ability to entertain ourselves, truly do need to be with people if for no other reason than to see ourselves reflected by them. Talk, laughter, even tears, touch our souls and help us define ourselves in relation to those around us. The photo is amazing. I'm not sure I ever noticed a star in a tulip before. Well done.
