I'd like to introduce you to the interesting Flaming Text blog. His entries are think-inspiring, and so well-written. My favorite post by far is the recent Story of Fire ~ an original interpretation of a Sufi story from the book Tales of the Dervishes by Idries Shah.
Sufism is often referred to as the "mystical sect" of Islam, and is rooted in the philosophy & poetry of Rumi ~ poetry so beautiful it makes the heart want to sing and cry at the same time. Someday I really should write about how my path intersected with a whirling pack of wild Sufis in Kansas City one mysterious December evening many years ago ~ you see, they are known for their whirling... as in whirling dervishes. If you find this to be totally absurd and odd, that's okay. You will not be required to twirl, nor are there any references to twirling in this entry. If there were twirling, it would be icing on the cake, though.
So ~ turn, turn, turn the page and spend the time reading his post The Story of Fire. It's a wonderfully written and entertaining entry from top to bottom!
(the tom deLay entry is worth a read too... if you can stomach being reminded that tom deLay exists, that is.)
