Winter's Solstice

December 21, 2005

ph_dec_crosssnow.jpg
In the bleak mid-winter
Frosty wind made moan,
Earth stood hard as iron,
Water like a stone;
Snow had fallen, snow on snow,
Snow on snow,
In the bleak mid-winter,
Long ago.

Darkness falls into all of our lives, but shadows need not cloak a life's truest meaning. No one is alone. Being in the presence of a winter's solstice means you are half-way there. The light is waiting just over the snow drift, down the gentle slope to the other side.
