As most of you know, my friend, Rob been running the Advent Calendar Christmas Special at his Frameable Images website. To date, he has given away hundreds... YES, HUNDREDS of dollars worth of free cards to my Advent Calendar viewers. Yes, this is a promotion, yes, we think if you actually hold one of our cards in your hand, you'll wish to purchase more. But what was primarily driving the free card offer is a deep conviction that what we are doing is worthwhile and good.
This morning, he received the following email from Adam:
"20 cards per day, WHAT THE F***?!? Are you kidding me? 20 F***ING CARDS A DAY?! YOU CHEAP MOTHER F*****!! F*** YOU! I WILL NEVER SPEND A DIME AT YOUR SITE NOW!! I AM SO PISSED OFF!! F*** YOU!"
I guess there just isn't enough hate in the world, is there? I guess making the decision NOT to infest my calendar with ugly google ads, or charge admission isn't enough either. Some people are ungrateful takers, who are unable to stop for a moment and consider how much blood, sweat, sleepless nights, money, time and LOVE goes into producing something like the calendar, or starting a greeting card business. Truth be told, this project costs me money to post every year, and you know why? Like any labor of love, it's a gift.
I guess some people are just terribly sad, despise themselves, and everyone else they encounter... which makes me think Adam desperately needs some love and tender loving care. If you are so inclined, please leave your comforting comments here (or email them to me) and I'll send them along to him in a care-package email to him just in time for Christmas. Perhaps, like the Grinch, his bitty heart will be able to grow and see how wonderful the world really is.
With complete sincerity,
Susan
ps: I'm completely serious. I think this guy needs a soul tuneup.

I cannot believe this person! Your and Rob's cards are beautiful and as you said you're spending hundreds of dollars giving away cards to people. He definitely needs a soul tuneup.

20 cards a day at +/- $8.00 (US) per card = $160.00 PER DAY given away freely. (no pun intended.)
Sorry, Adam. It sounds like Susan and Rob have enough Christmas spirit to go around and it is YOU who have a problem, not them. So, I'll pray for you and whatever seems to be bothering you.
To Adam AND Susan and Rob: May the rest of this Christmas Season be extra beautiful, bright and blessed for you and your loved ones, regardless of how many Grinches and Scrooges try to steal away the real Spirit of Christmas.

(To the tune of" O Tannenbaum")
Oh, Grinchy-boy, oh, Grinchy-boy
your hollow heart denies thee
Oh, Grinchy-boy, oh, Grinchy-boy
the love you find here is all free
To want and want
is oh so dear;
to love and give
is just as clear
Oh, Grinchy-boy, oh, Grinchy-boy
you'll find naught but love here

Dear Adam,
It's a rough season, eh? Here's hoping that your day improves, your tension eases, and that you get a long walk on a beautiful evening to bring peace to your heart.

Dear Adam ~
Your moment of feeling bad brought you into a situation where love and best wishes are flooding your way! What an interesting turn of events. We all have moments like that; sorry to hear about yours. Susan is setting a wonderful example for all of us... making lemonade from lemons, I suppose. I wish you fun and laughter from some unexpected source, and a few surprise smiles from strangers to brighten your day. Remember to look at that guy in the mirror and give him your best wishes and sincerest moral support. love, Bonnie

Adam is a beautiful human being. Everyone is entitled to a bad day every one in a while.

Adam, I am sorry you are upset, even if I don't understand why. I received my free card from Rob yesterday and it was breathtaking. I don't know what I was expecting, but certainly nothing this beautiful. I must have stood with my mouth hanging open for a good five minutes, as I gently felt the weight of the cardstock in my hand. It was no ordinary card...
I've been lurking around this site for almost a year, and this is my very first comment. I just feel compelled to say something positive about Susan and Rob's labor of love. Twenty cards a day are touching twenty souls, and when those cards are given to their intended recipients, twenty more souls will be touched. And perhaps some of those cards will be framed and hung on a wall for twenty more souls to gaze at...it's not about the number of cards, Adam. It's not just about promoting their product, either - it's about fostering a sense of goodwill. Just think, if I hadn't asked for a card, I wouldn't even care about you or be leaving this comment.
God bless you, Adam. God bless us everyone - and all our attempts to connect with each other. And thanks be to God for the free gift he sent to us so long ago - his Son.

Adam needs some serious help. His mouth is worse than a truck driver's ever thought off. Thanks Rob and Susan for giving of yourselves and talents to others.

Dear Adam, Perhaps you have spent some money at Rob's site and now you are upset because they are giving away ONE card per person. Or perhaps you are angry because they are willing to personify the Christmas Season by giving a gift to the people who visit their web site. Neither are rich monetarily, just rich in spirit and love. Whatever the reason you found it necessary to go on a foul mouthed spree I hope you can find it in your heart to love those around you instead of taking offense when they give gifts to friends. At least on Christmas night.

oh i can't wait to see grinchy boy next year! susan, rob is wonderful, you are blessed indeed!

How sad. I had a tough time choosing a card myself. If I had the money, I would have ordered some. They are beautiful and while I was trying to choose one I was thinking about the heartful work that was put into them. Well, thank you Susan and Rob for your gift. You didn't have to do this but you did it anyway and I am so greatful.

Adam,
May you feel a gentle tug in your heart with each little message of love you receive here. I hope it reaches to the depths of your soul and causes your heart to soar. Have a blissfully blessed Christmas and a prosperous new year.
