Swedish Rocket Fuel, in its final heating stages. That's orange peel floating on top.

It's hard to find Moscatel, and we've found that Manischewitz does quite fine as a stand-in ingredient. We now refer to it as Swedish-Jewish Glogg.

My mom was baking her awesome apple cranberry pie when we began dipping into the glogg.

When cooking under the influence of glogg, you'll end up with a mountainous pie.

Christmas without pickled herring, just wouldn't be Christmas at all. (stop saying "yuk", it really is GOOD, and GOOD FOR YOU!

The very first taste! YuuUUuuummMMmmmmmyyyyy!

The tell-tale sign ~ a healthy, happy winter Swedish GLOW.

Behold, the AMAZING PIE! I love my mom faded out in the background and smiling.

Hands down, the best Swedish chef in the universe!
This is the most fun I've had in quite a long time. Me and mom slowly getting snockered, singing songs, and cooking in the kitchen. My stepfather thought we were very amusing.

herring is something i haven't aquired a taste for yet. bad swede, bad...
the pie on the other hand looks MARVELOUS! and very yummy! your mom looks so sweet and it's great to hear of a mother and daughter enjoying each other's company during the holidays. far too many relationships are too strained this time of year. great memories, thanks for sharing!

What is your glogg recipe? Or is it a family secret? ;-) I'm half Swedish, but don't have contact with that side of the family... so I find these traditions very intriguing!
