Ah, it's almost that time again in my world. I found out on Thanksgiving my interactive Advent Calendar will win Cool Site of the Day for its 8th year on December 1st. This always makes me grateful and anxious at the same time ~ it's the annual test of my nerves, and whether or not the pounding in my chest will be as bad as it was last year. I wonder if anyone can relate to this. Thousands of visitors hit my site each year and there's a part of me that worries something will go wrong... the site will break, or explode or something.
I know, it's really nuts. It's just a fun holiday site, for god's sake. WHO CARES?
What I do care about is the beginning of the Advent season. A time of waiting for new and better things. To me, Advent symbolizes waiting in the dark for the promise of light and love. We aren't sure when it will come, but it will. Perhaps you're going through a dark night of the soul ~ we all do from time to time. With the days getting shorter each day, and the false promises of JOY! and CHEER! associated with the holiday frenzied shopping, I think perhaps, we miss the deeper meaning this month holds.
Whether you believe the Christmas story to be true or not is completely fine with me, but do stop for a moment and pause to wonder about your life ~ you know... the one you are creating. Mary carried a child who symbolized love for all mankind. She took the long arduous walk through the dessert, on a donkey no less, wondering what the future held for her and the child she was carrying.
I'm wondering, who is the child of wonder inside of you? Are you doing the hard and patient work of creating the life you want... a life that will make a difference... a life created and inspired through love? Something new and wonderful could be waiting around the corner for each and every one of us. What new and wonderful gift is waiting to be born in us as December's days unfold?
The door of the Advent season is officially open here at Visual-Voice, as it soon will be at my commercial site, q-creative.com/christmas. Please hit the site on December 1st, (this Thursday) and share the countdown to Christmas with me (and vote for the site too!)
Advent Blessings to all of you!
