Complicated Cataract

July 13, 2005

I'm concerned about my mom. She had cataract surgery the day before yesterday and is one of the unfortunate 2% of patients who experience complications after surgery. Her stitches tore because of post-operative pressure build-up, and now eye-goo jello stuff has leaked into where the new lens is ~ she says it's like looking through a frog pond. Just thinking about it makes me wiggy. The doctor mentioned her eye tissue wasn't quite normal... whatever that means. He's doing everything he can to help save her eye, and has referred her to a group of SUPER Eye Surgeons in Kansas City.

Mom, I hope you get better soon! We'll see to it that you get through it!

i'll be praying for her. I can't even stand contacts so eye issues would really creep me out! good luck.

Thanks everyone for your prayers. Second surgery is Friday at four. I have great surgeons and am far luckier than some. Just have to count your blessings and say your prayers and shoo the fear away. I appreciate your concerns.

Hugs, Susan's mom
