A very talented & sincere man named Terry emailed me to share the story of his friend, Lora with me. Terry and I had corresponded a few times during my online Christmas project, and through our conversations, I learned he is a recovered intraveneous drug user. He said he wasn't sure why, but he felt compelled to share the letter he wrote nominating Lora for the Come Back to Courage Award in Canada. I can think of one reason why he forwarded it – the story inspired me, and I hope it inspires you too.
I feel it's best not to paraphrase his words, because they are so authentic and filled with admiration and love for a woman who is stronger than most of us could ever hope to be. I'm also inspired by Terry's courage to claim his own life for the miracle it is, and the generous and grateful spirit within him that prompted him to write this nomination letter.
It won't be surprising after reading this entry to learn that Lora WON the Courage to Come Back Award in the Chemical Dependency category this year. I've named both Lora and Terry as Guest Artists on my site today, because I believe it takes great artistry to come back from the edge, and a level of mastery to inspire others to live their best lives. Life as Art, with a capital "A".
If you have a compelling story to tell about someone who has worked their artistry in your life, please forward it to me... I might just include it on the blog.
Here's the letter ~
I would like to nominate Lora Johnston-Corbett for the Courage to Come Back Award under the chemical dependency category. click here to continue....

Thank you for sharing this. I do agree that leading life is an act of art. Most of us don't figure that out until our canvas is no longer blank, but the people who overcome such large obstacles to create a whole in beauty are indeed heroes who inspire the rest of us.
