Balcony of the Sea

Here I came to the very edge
where nothing at all needs saying,
everything is absorbed through weather and the sea,
and the moon swam back,
its rays all silvered,
and time and again the darkness would be broken
by the crash of a wave,
and every day on the balcony of the sea,
wings open, fire is born,

Pablo Neruda is without a doubt one of the best poets ever to have touched a pen. If you get the chance, get the soundtrack to Il Postino. Samuel L Jackson, Andy Garcia, Julia Roberts, and a handful of others read a few of his work.

The Il Postino cd is one of my all-time favorites. So is Julia Roberts... who is also a Neruda fan.
