It's not even Thanksgiving yet, but it's THAT time of year again!
I just uploaded a spiffed-up splash page for my Annual Interactive Advent Calendar. The background is new this year and I'm pretty pleased with it. I've been collecting old postcards and photographs for years now, and ran across a wonderful shot of a little Swedish girl from the early 1900's. My mother is 100% Swedish (which according to her, makes me 51% Swedish) so the new look and feel simply makes me feel warm inside.
If you have no idea what I'm talking about, an advent calendar is a northern European tradition of counting down the days until Christmas. My site features a new ornament or toy each day which is animated in Flash. The site has won a number of Cool Site of the Day awards, which is pretty whacky and fun because thousands of people hit the site the day that it wins.
Will there be any new animations?
I sure hope so... Santa? Where are those new animations I asked for?
But wait, there's more!
From December 1-24th I'm hoping to post additional information about each day's character. There is only so much I can say in the calendar format, so I think it will be fun to give more deatils and perhaps pass along some family stories. I hope to touch upon my artistic motivations and what has inspired a project that is so close to my heart.
Whether anyone besides me thinks this is a grand idea is yet to be known.By the end of December I hope to have a Christmas section of my Blog filled cherished memories and soulful meanderings.
She loves Christmas! The whole Christmas season! Please don't ask me why I do this, no one quite knows the reason!
GOBS of GLEE,
Susan

The calendar has such potential, I am anxious to see it in countdown mode - but I could not back out of it to return to your site. Is that my computer's fault?

Am so looking forward to the calendar.

Last year, my students and I lived for each new day to open up your advent calendar. I've been looking forward all year to it. It was enchanting last year. I can't wait to show it to a new batch of students. I promised to email several of last year's students to remind them to check it out again.
Thanks for doing it.

My father was 100% Swedish (which according to him, makes me--at the very least--51% Swedish). This must be an ethnic characteristic.
Thank you, Susan, for the best Advent Calendar this side of Stockholm. God Jul!
