Depending on which way the wind is blowing, the jets flying to and from Reagan National zoom right over the field behind my building. When I'm bored, I'll sometimes sit and count them... one every 90 seconds or so. It's not as loud as one would think, and I've become rather used to it.
Yesterday evening I laid in the field with my lens pointed skyward, attempting to capture a final approach. Thing is, the light was fading, and jets move considerably faster than they seem to from the ground ~ they kept flying out of the viewfinder! This is a good example of less being more, and admittedly is a total accident. Still, I rather like the expansivenss of sky, and the way the plane is zooming out of the frame – as if headed for someplace wonderful.
