The state of Missouri thinks I own a small house on wheels. I'm preparing for the dreaded C Street DMV visit to register my car here in DC and pulled out the title yesterday... my heart a-twitter with anticipation. Hopefully it'll be less frustrating than the registration experience in Kansas City, where the following conversation unfolded:
ME: "I'd like to register my MINI Cooper."
DMV Woman: "Mini what?"
ME: "Cooper."
DMV Woman: "A MINI What?"
ME: "Cooper."
DMV Woman: "Is that a CAR?"
ME: "Yes, it's a MINI Cooper."
DMV Woman: "You're sure it's a CAR?"
ME: "Yes, I drove it here."
DMV Woman: "I don't see anything like that on my list. You sure it's a CAR?"
ME: "Yes, it's a MINI COOPER!"
DMV Woman: "Who makes it?"
ME: "BMW."
DMV Woman: "So is't a MINI BMW."
ME: "No... BMW creates it, the make is MINI, and the model is COOPER."
DMV Woman: "So, it's a BMW Cooper.. right?"
As you can see, she left the MODEL blank. I guess she thought "Freakin' Cooper" was an inappropriate description, as I banged my head on the counter.
