Hunting Black Squirrels

October 10, 2004

Take a hike anywhere within a few mile radius of the Washington Cathedral, and you're bound to come across a black squirrel or two. The cathedral is actually well-known for these shy rats with cute tails, so I suspect they are Episcopalean. Unlike their brownish grey brothers, who will come right up and beg for some scone and a latte, they're a bit mistrusting and nearly impossible to shoot as they scampered around in the early evening shadows.

They are FAST, sprinting with cheetah-like speed.

Get away from my nuts, you weird camera woman!

Mongoose? Ferret? Anglican wiener dog?
