My Dining Room Window

I’m so loving creating images with my iPhone… to the point I rarely pick up the big ol’ digital Canon. There’s an immediacy, simplicity and freedom using this tool which inspires a detachment to creative outcome for me. I’m discovering a new toy, which brings me right here, into the moment.

What tools, toys, people, thoughts, practices… inspire this in you? What sets your mind free?

Meteors. Snowstorms. Lightening. A good breakfast burrito.
    A well-written book, poem, essay. A woman’s smile.

Birds – yesterday as I was driving I noticed a sparrow laying
in the middle of the road; it must have been hit by a car. Or flew into
one. Take your pick. Anyway, I stopped to carry it away from any further
insult to its tiny body. It passed away in my cupped hands. If such a
thing can’t set one’s mind “free” then I don’t know what can.

Then, of course, there are the things that don’t set us free, that attach
us. I’ll keep my list to myself.

I was not much into using the phone camera until I got an iPhone. Coupled with all the creative apps, it is simply an amazing tool. For the first year, I almost completely forgot the existence of my digital camera. Looks like you are really having fun with it!

A rosy view through the house to the kitchen. How clever. How lovely.
